Omar Marcos - Change Log

CHANGE LOG

Since this is basically intended to be a portfolio website that, upon completion, likely won't be updated daily, I've decided against implementing an RSS feed for the artistic sections of my site (…with the exception of the News page). Instead, I've chosen to include a change log where you can keep track of any major changes I make. Yes, I realize these are typically reserved for app & software development, but it's the first title that came to mind. And ideally I should have initiated this in the Summer of 2022 when I began this version of my website, but better late than never!

  • HOLA AGAIN

    October 10, 2025
It's been a while since I've posted updates, but you can't hold it against a guy for living it up during this half of Hispanic Heritage month. Or was that half of last month? I'm still not sure how that works…

1 )  I've revamped the Fine Art page considerably, allowing you to now find artwork descriptions by medium or by theme. You'll probably notice the categories don't necessarily follow the strictest definitions. (The Abstract section can sometimes include slightly representational art. Sculpture will likely at some point also feature variations such as Assemblage, etc. Concepts is more of my catch-all theme for whatever didn't quite fit in other categories, not necessarily related to the branch of Conceptual art made popular in the previous century…) However, at least for the moment, I think this redesign can make the process of pinpointing a specific piece more user friendly, especially as the collection grows.

2 )  In keeping with the above update, I've also tweaked the breadcrumb (or back) links near the top of each artwork page. In addition to clicking on the Fine Art link or the name of the medium (Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Sculpture) to return to those respective sections, you can now also click on the name of the theme to bring you back to those thumbnail pages. I realize that back link area is starting to get a little crowded for mobile browser users, but I'll try to find a way to remedy that without reverting to something like 2px type!

  • IN PROGRESS

    September 12, 2025
While I'm working on other still unfinished sections, I've introduced just a few minor changes:

1 )  I've added two new artworks to the Character Design Illustration section.
2 )  It didn't make much sense to only have page number links on the bottom of each long scrollable page of the Culinary Arts sections, so I went ahead and placed those page links on the top as well. (Big change, right?)
3 )  There's one new artwork on the Fashionista stylized portrait page.
4 )  As I finally begin to complete the Illustration section of my portfolio, I'm also updating a few of the thumbnail images on the main link page. Which I'll more than likely change up again by the time the next update rolls around… So until then!

  • A FEW MORE THINGS

    August 15, 2025
1 )  I've added a new post on the Spanish page of the Languages section, as well as introduced a new German page.

2 )  The Realism Illustration portfolio has a new image entry.

3 )  I started to introduce some animation to the home page (desktop version), but didn't quite get a chance to complete it. For now, you'll have to view the sluggish text movement until I can get around to finalizing that. : )

4 )  And yes, I'm starting to test a few fixes for the web page zoom issue, but they won't be implemented site-wide until I'm sure it's resolved. Thanks for your patience!

On another note, due to the ongoing & uncertain nature of global tariffs, my Cat Spa will no longer be accepting international cats, in order to avoid unexpected import fees. I realize this may come as an inconvenience to our feline friends abroad, but such is the changing nature of business. And please don't try to game the system. We have technology that can detect foreign "meow" accents up to 99.9% accuracy, so attempting to mask your country of origin is not advised. Hopefully things will settle down in the future regarding tariffs and we can welcome you with open arms once more! Keep your paws crossed for a brighter tomorrow!

  • HELLO AGAIN

    July 30, 2025
I've been forever waiting in line for my Nintendo Switch 29, but for some reason my order never came through. Go figure. So I decided to get back to site updates:

1 )  There's (the beginnings of) a new fashion season - Spring Summer 2017 - in the Fashion Illustration section.
2 )  I've finally initialized the Realism and Stylized Concepts portfolio sections in the Illustration page.
3 )  There are new stylized portrait illustrations on the Fashionista, Cheerleader, Stewardess, and Waitress pages.
4 )  I've added a few new Remixed recipe photos in the Culinary Arts page.
5 )  As I hinted I would in the last update, I've redesigned the Mixed Media page to avoid endless scrolling of one page with multiple artworks. Now the Mixed Media page is one composite thumbnail page where you can click on the piece you'd like more info about and each subsequent artwork has its own dedicated page. And I've done the same with the Fine Art Painting page, which by the way has a new artwork listing. (Actually, I redesigned these pages a number of times since the last update - I just didn't post any of those changes online. I guess in that sense, progress isn't always visible…)
6 )  The sales status of the Mini Modeling Sessions has been updated.
7 )  As you know, I don't design first for mobile devices as many tech experts recommend. Most of my work is better viewed on larger screens (…but unfortunately with the unethical scraping of intellectual property by artificial intelligence companies, I've been reducing the size of my online images in response.) As a result, it wasn't until recently that I realized that some mobile devices perform an automatic zoom on certain pages, and when I tested my site using a mobile emulator (I'm trying to sound smart here!), I realized this effect occurred almost across the board on various types of cell phone web browsers. In some cases, a few of my pages such as my S.T.E.A.M. section render with the dreaded double-scrolling phenomenon, making it almost unreadable on mobile. So sorry about that.
I've been designing my sites to be responsive for years, but unfortunately various browsers have thrown this wrench into the mix - yet I'm committed to making my pages readable to the largest audience possible. I won't disable zoom (which would be an easy fix) out of respect for visually-impaired viewers, and even though I tried toying with simple font size changes, the problems still persisted in initial testing. But I'll find the way to correct this. For now I've simply re-engineered the section headers, which looked terribly grainy with that web browser automatic zoom (bug. flaw. feature. whatever you want to call it…). Thanks for your patience and understanding!

  • A FEW BRIEF UPDATES

    May 16, 2025
Just wanted to drop a quick note about the latest news and changes:

1 )  I added another image to the Fashion Illustration Fall Winter 2019 portfolio, and also corrected an emoji icon glitch in the portrait illustrations section.

2 )  There are a few new additions to the Mixed Media page, so be sure to check them out! (Since I rushed to piece together that page, in hindsight I'm realizing it needs to be designed differently in order to prevent endless scrolling as more works of art are added. Stay tuned for that update…)

3 )  Again, miniature artworks are available for sale at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center's 6x6 fundraising event. You can find more details in the News section. Hope you enjoy it!

  • HELLO AGAIN

    May 3, 2025
Encountered a few detours along the way, so unfortunately this update isn't quite the big reveal I wanted it to be. But such is life.
Anyways, here's the breakdown of the current changes:

1 )  I've finally started to incorporate images in the Fashion Illustration page, but as you can see, only one gallery is active for the moment.

2 )  I've refreshed the look for the Fine Arts pages, added a new Mixed Media category, and also inserted a new entry in the Art Photography page.

3 )  The Stewardess and Waitress pages also saw the addition of new artwork, along with some of the corresponding comments as they were seen on my social media pages.

4 )  I know I said in my last S.T.E.A.M. post I'd explain how a photo-loving pug relates to the concept of a total eclipse, but you'll have to forgive my trepidation in trying to draw animals. I've been known to make cats look like pit bulls and vice versa, so I'd really like to get more practice in before posting that sketch, LOL! In the meantime, I've updated the Total Solar Eclipse post with correct variables, added an outline of a new post, and added headers to the S.T.E.A.M. pages.

  • MULTIPLE UPDATES

    February 7, 2025
Instead of churning out a few micro-updates with greater frequency, I tried something different this time by completing several more substantial updates at once. It may or may not be my standard from here on out, but at this point, it worked much better with my schedule. (…Starting up a Cat-Spa takes a lot of work, you know.)

1 )  Except for the S.T.E.A.M., Artist Resources, & Graphic Design sections, all the pages now have their corresponding page headers in place. And I mentioned some time ago how I wasn't too pleased with my backlink hover designation. So I went ahead and came up with a niftier, more aesthetically pleasing solution, as you can see above.

2 )  The stylized Portrait sections are starting to come together, although there's still a ton of work to be done before completion!

3 )  I don't have much time nowadays to experiment in coding, but I've started to tinker with a new layout for the most recent Culinary Arts page.

4 )  As opposed to having all the videos jumbled together on one Video splash page, I designed separate sections according to theme, as you can see in the menu thumbnails in the preview image above.

  • VIDEO SECTION ENTRIES & PAGE HEADERS

    December 14, 2024
Yikes! It's already the middle of December and I only have a few updates to show for it. But I guess that's what happens when you get caught up in patterning your life according to classic Christmas songs. You know how it is, keeping busy decking the halls with boughs of holly, a-wassailing from here to there, trying to find a mountain to go tell it on, and such. I've discovered it's not easy dreaming of a white Christmas when you're dreaming & perspiring by the fireplace, and I'm pretty sure Jack Frost may have literally bit, not nibbled, my nose the other week. (There may be litigation coming…)

So for now I've only added a few more page headers to this site and I've introduced a few videos to the Video section. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holidays!

  • FASHION ILLUSTRATION PAGE & MORE

    November 15, 2024
Since I recently realized I'm not eligible to participate in the National Spelling Bee, I figured I better get back to updating my website : )

1 )  The framework for the Fashion Illustration page is starting to come together, as you'll see that I've incorporated a few (non-clickable) thumbnails into the landing page.
2 )  Due to the fact that I previously neglected to cover dedicated portfolio sites for creatives such as writers & bloggers, I've now included reviews for Clippings.me and Journo Portfolio in the Portfolio Websites section.
3 )  I've also added a few tweaks in the form of corresponding genre titles for the News page.

And as much as I wanted to introduce a new half-finished S.T.E.A.M. post, that'll have to wait for the next set of revisions. Until then!

  • NAV BAR REDESIGNED
    LANGUAGES PAGE REASSIGNED

    October 17, 2024
As you may have already noticed, I've redesigned the navigation bar to make a few of the start page sub-menu links accessible on every page now. (…With the exception of the Biography link, which can still only be found on the home page.)

And not to worry, the Languages page still exists! I've simply moved the link from the primary navigation bar to the Xtras page. A few of the back links need some fine-tuning, but I appreciate your patience while I reshuffle a few items in order to present a more streamlined & user-friendly experience!

  • CULINARY ARTS & NEWS PAGE TWEAKS

    October 8, 2024
A pair of quick updates: The Culinary Arts page is slowly being revamped (…finally!). And I've also added a few tweaks in the form of titles for the News page.

  • RSS FEED CHANGES

    September 19, 2024
Since the other updates I've been working on aren't quite complete yet, the change log is relatively light for now: I've discontinued the Artist Resources RSS Feed, simply because notice of major changes to that section will likely be posted here instead. However, I have added an RSS feed to the News page. (That way you can stay informed whenever I buy a new gum eraser and such!)

  • MULTIPLE UPDATES

    August 15, 2024
Although I usually try to insert a degree of personality into these brief posts, most of the time these change log entries are the last thing I write before moving on to what's next. So I may not always have time to be witty. (Or perhaps more accurately, time to try to be witty…)
Anyway, here's a brief breakdown of the changes that were implemented this time around:

1 )  The main CSS file that included the specs for the S.T.E.A.M. posts and Culinary posts was becoming far too unwieldy. So I simply decided to split up the style sheets. It isn't rocket science, but you do have to make sure all your files are pointing to the right style guide. (…And perhaps this calls for a future S.T.E.A.M. post providing insight into this practice.) These change aren't visible to viewers. It's simply my decision to reorganize those sections in preparation for much more posts & entries in those pages!
2 )  I've begun to split up the Culinary Arts section into two pages, with more recent dishes slated to reside on the landing page. (…That's a change that actually is visible!)
3 )  The Writing page has been slightly revamped and the accompanying images are now viewable on mobile devices.
4 )  More page headers have been added throughout, consistent with the design introduced earlier this year.
5 )  And as you can see above, I've also started to implement the framework for the eventual introduction of other Fashion History decades.

  • FASHION ILLUSTRATION & LANGUAGES PAGES

    August 2, 2024
In keeping with my intention to transfer my artwork from my social media pages, I've begun to develop the framework for the Fashion Illustration section. Obviously, the page only displays the bare bones structure right now, but changes are on the way. Also, as you can see in the preview thumbnail above, I'm starting to spruce up the previously introduces Languages pages, & I've also added a Spanish page.
While at some point I aim to migrate the majority of my artistic social media posts to this site, the exception to that process will be my music-themed videos. In order to avoid copyright infringement issues or having to pay licensing fees for public performances of someone else's songs, unfortunately I won't be posting my guitar & keyboard clips here. But that's okay. I believe the work of visual artists and musicians should be respected and valued. Wouldn't it be something if artificial intelligence tech companies felt the same way?

  • LANGUAGE PAGE UPDATES

    July 26, 2024
I've been working on some under-the-hood changes to the site, which unfortunately aren't ready just yet. And as you may already know, I've removed much of my art posts from social media accounts (Meta) due to their policy changes. (At some point, I'll likely revise my artificial intelligence article to detail a few of the latest relevant tech happenings.)
As a result, I'm starting to transfer much of my social media artwork & such to my website here, but prepping & re-posting years of work is a huge undertaking. (Don't you wish you had as much free time as the characters in a Jardiance® commercial, who somehow break out in song & dance every few minutes in the middle of their work day?!) The only section I've barely begun to update accordingly is the Language page. Stay tuned for more!

  • ADDITION TO SCULPTURE PAGE

    June 17, 2024
I just noticed I haven't posted an entry specifically to this Change Log for exactly a month. But you don't mind if I take an occasional time off this summer, right? The Olympics are coming up, the UEFA Euro soccer tournament is in full swing, and besides, Punxsutawney Phil found out he was going to be a dad a few months back. The little guy needs all the support he can get, with the full responsibilities of fatherhood upon him. Looks like he'll be spending far fewer late nights hanging out with the guys for a while…
Anyway, for now you can peruse the latest addition to the Sculpture page. (And in that regard, I removed the majority of the rust spots in my "Unfurling" sculpture within the week after posting it. I simply haven't photographed the results or decided how I'm going to finalize it yet.)

  • PAINTING SPECS & NESTED PAGES NAVIGATION

    May 17, 2024
Although I'll still be going back and forth between tasks, it's nice to return to coding again. Minor updates include: 1) Full specifications for my "RIOS" paintings in the Fine Art: Painting section. 2) Also, all the nested pages in the Fine Art section now have a clickable title to return you to the main page. This will eventually be the case for all pages with multiple sub-categories (…although I'm not too enthused with the hover effect I hastily specified.).

  • NEWS ENTRY DEBUT

    May 10, 2024
Thanks again for your patience while this site gets back up to speed. In the meantime, I'd like to announce an artistic treat: fine art at affordable prices, as detailed in my first News page post!

  • DISCLAIMER REGARDING A.I.

In the interest of transparency, there's a new Disclaimer about the use of artificial intelligence on this site.

  • TOTAL ECLIPSE  S.T.E.A.M.  POST

    April 6, 2024
Until I get organized here, the only new update I have to offer for now is a Solar Eclipse-related S.T.E.A.M. post.
    Enjoy!

  • SUB-MENU BAR & BIOGRAPHY

    March 13, 2024
The homepage now has a sub-menu bar, which includes the Change Log link to this page here. The new mini-menu bar also contains the link to a first draft of my personal Biography.
And a few other header additions were also introduced.

  • HOME PAGE REVAMPED

    March 7, 2024
Just so you won't think I've joined Punxsutawney Phil on his extended vacation, I've re-designed the introductory text on the Home page. It's a very minimal update, I know, and for now it only serves as a placeholder design until I fully finalize it. But along with a few other alignment tweaks on some other pages, these are the only updates I've made this week. At least until next time!

  • CHARACTER DESIGN UPDATE & SECTION HEADERS

    February 7, 2024
I've added one new artwork to the Character Design page, and as you can also see here, I'm slowly beginning to add page headers to each section, as well as slightly sprucing up the Change Log entries.
And even though I don't usually give notice regarding such minuscule changes, I've also added a few new images in the S.T.E.A.M. section.
    Have a great week!

  • CURRENT EVENTS

    January 29, 2024
This isn't anything near what I had been planning or working on for this week, but recent developments in current events had me thinking about a few ways to address certain topics. And you can find the hastily written posts as the latest entries on the S.T.E.A.M. page.

  • S.T.E.A.M. DIFFICULTY TAGS

    January 18, 2024
A few more light updates this time around: I've corrected a few missing thumbnail images in the design section, as well as fixed a few alignment issues there.
And I've also added a way for visitors to the S.T.E.A.M. page to categorize the articles by degree of difficulty (Basic, Intermediate, & Advanced). Along with the subject tags I introduced in November of 2023, all this serves to help you find your preferred posts rapidly, especially as that section grows.

  • BETTER DESIGN

    January 12, 2024
After reviewing the overall presentation of this site over the holidays, it's clear to me that I should finally start applying better design here. And what better place to begin revamping the look than in the design section…

  • TIME DILATION & SANTA CLAUSE

    December 21, 2023
Speaking of time warps, allow me to close out the year with this final S.T.E.A.M. post.
Everyone have a great holidays & a safe New Year!

  • FASHION HISTORY

    December 8, 2023
We've already entered the Winter holidays-time warp where there never seems to be enough time to get everything done. Consequently, I'm posting an even lighter update than the previous one and only introducing a new illustration section titled Fashion History.

(Note: For those of you familiar with my other websites, you've already noticed this artwork is basically just mirrored content from there. But I figured I might as well include it here in my official illustration portfolio, even though such duplicate content adds more megabytes to the sum total of internet bandwidth!)

  • S.T.E.A.M. FOR THE HOLIDAYS

    November 22, 2023
A relatively light update before Thanksgiving: I've added two new posts on the S.T.E.A.M. page. And you'll notice I've also added tags to the main S.T.E.A.M. page to make it easier to find the articles highlighting specific concepts. Enjoy!

  • A.I. ARTICLE UPDATE

    November 10, 2023
As eager as I am to add more art and S.T.E.A.M. posts on here, I've dedicated the latest update to a few edits and a new Addendum Section in the Artificial Intelligence & Society article. (Remember, new text is highlighted in purple with a notation of the date added.) With the increasing development of AI technology, I thought it best to address some of the recent relevant issues. (But even so, I was only able to complete half of what I had intended to for the article updates…)
And you'll also note that I've added Reading Time estimates for most of the Artist Resources articles, roughly based on a silent reading time of 283 words per minute. Everyone's strapped for time nowadays, so hopefully that can provide a guide for your planned reading!

  • MORE S.T.E.A.M.

    October 17, 2023
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed diving into math & science concepts, and I really could spend a majority of my time exploring the same. And apparently that's what I've been doing, because the only update for now is a revamped S.T.E.A.M. page!

  • NEW SECTION AND FINISHED SECTIONS

    September 16, 2023
After a number of detours and delays, I've added a new section I've been wanting to complete for a few months now. The S.T.E.A.M. page in the Xtras section is a blending of math, science, technology, and the arts.
Of course, I also have a few more additions to my second AI article, but that'll have to wait till the next go round.
And I've finally finished the Caricatures section and the Music Composition page.
"Finished". There's something quite uplifting about being able to use that word here. Of course, it's a relative term for an artist's portfolio, as hopefully creatives are always adding new work to their repertoire. And almost immediately I can think of more work I could add to those two completed sections. But let's leave it there for now, shall we? I'd really like to finish this website before the turn of the next century!

  • CULINARY ARTS UPDATES

    August 29, 2023
World news & current events are filled with stories of heartbreaking loss and devastation at the moment. Among other things, the world really could use some uplifting art right now. So while I'm finishing up some of the other sections, I've posted some updates on the Culinary Arts page for now. Enjoy!

  • MORE UPDATES!

    July 07, 2023
Hello again! I realize I haven't posted updates here lately, but I bit off more than I could chew again and fell short of completing a few sections. So you'll have to excuse my Pac-Man tendencies in this regard.
Also, as I move closer to actually completing this site (…because it's taken way too long already, right?!), the update schedule won't always be as consistent or as frequent as it has been, simply because I'd rather present more finished sections as opposed to some of the piecemeal updates I've been providing. In the meantime, I've refined the Artist Resources page and you can also view the updates on the Graphic Design section, as well as the completed & spruced up the Artificial Intelligence & Society article.
    Thanks for understanding!

  • ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & SOCIETY

    June 09, 2023
As promised, I've posted my second article dealing with AI: Artificial Intelligence & Society. While a few sections are still a work in progress, I'll simply add to it in the next rounds. Be sure to check it out!

  • DESIGN PORTFOLIO ADDITIONS

    May 09, 2023
Slowly but surely I'm finally starting to round out my Graphic Design Portfolio. First up are a few new web design additions. (And from now on, unless there's a major modification there, I'll just go ahead & simply add the new work, instead of announcing them in this change log. That saves me a few seconds of typing!)

  • PORTFOLIO WEBSITES & AI

    April 21, 2023
Part of my intent here is to support artists and look out for their interests. As such, I've started to add updated footnotes regarding Artificial Intelligence use & policies in the Portfolio Websites page found under Artist Resources.

  • NEW PAGES

    March 14, 2023
More updates! I've added two new pages to the site: first, the Character Design page in the Illustration section, and also the Art Photography page under the Fine Art heading.

  • CULINARY ADDITIONS

    February 24, 2023
Apparently I bit off more than I could chew this time around, so as a result I ended up not completing what I had planned. However, (and in keeping with the previous food metaphor) I've added a few more culinary additions to the Xtras page! (…And even this is partially unfinished. Story of my life.)

  • ANIMATED TEXT CHANGES

    January 20, 2023
In order to provide increased transparency, I've introduced a new visual marker that pinpoints exactly where I've made changes in certain important text sections. From now on, whenever I make substantial revisions to my Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, or certain Shop Talk articles under the Artist Resources section, you can see recently added new text briefly highlighted in orange. (Scroll down quickly in longer sections to get a complete overview of the text changes.) And don't worry, the bright orange color eventualy fades away, so you can read all the text in its normal color!
