SMALL WORKS FOR SALE AT ABINGTON ART CENTER

With the holidays fast approaching, many are looking for appropriately-priced gifts for all their friends and loved ones. Abington Art Center returns this year with their "Small Works To-Go II" event just for that purpose. Their Community Gallery is filled with dozens of smaller-sized artworks available for purchase, and I'm happy to share that several of my figurative artworks have been juried into the show. You can view my Fine Art section for more info about my "Her Vivid Colors" series.
Abington Art Center in Jenkintown is located just a few miles away from Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, and the beauty of this specific show is the instant portability of your purchases. As soon as you buy any of the pieces, you can immediately take them home, frames and all, to hang on your wall or prepare as a gift for someone else. (…As opposed to having to wait until the end of the exhibition, as with most in-gallery art shows.) It's a great opportunity to get a head start on some of your shopping for the season or to otherwise score fantastic personalized presents!

WINSOR & NEWTON™ ART MAIL GALLERY

I'm pleased to announce one of my watercolor postcards has been included in the Winsor & Newton™ Art Mail initiative. Art Mail is a global campaign by this renowned UK art supply company that has assembled art from individuals & artists across dozens of countries. The postcards are viewable in their online gallery and a select few have also been chosen for in-gallery exhibitions in London and New York, after which the pieces are scheduled to be auctioned off in support of Hospital Rooms' commendable art-inspired work with mental health hospitals in Great Britain.
Which is what I love about art. In all its varied forms it not only has the capacity to spark much-needed conversations & challenge the status-quo, but it also the powerful potential to revitalize, bring tranquility, and play a crucial role in a person's healing process.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS ARTWORK AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

I'm excited to share that two of my artworks will showing at The Beach Kraft Gallery this fall! "Highly Animated III" is a unique in-gallery exhibition showcasing the creativity found in both fan art and original characters. Sure, some fine art purists will look down on such themes or even frown at the incredible talent found among comic book artists, but since my beginnings as an artist were rooted in both Pop Art and the varied personas of popular culture, I fully embrace this opportunity and this full-circle moment.
For detailed info about my specific pieces in the exhibit, you can view my "Astrid" and "Aurora" pages. (I don't usually sell my work at this lower price point, but since these illustrations are smaller in size and I did use markers for the majority of the coloring, you can find yourself the owner of two Omar Marcos originals for an excellent price. While markers don't necessarily have the staying power of some of my other lifetime-lasting mediums, I used top-of-the line alcohol markers with excellent lightfastness that should last for years if properly cared for. In fact, I'm looking at a similarly colored piece hanging on my wall that's nearly a decade old with virtually no signs of fading…)

While keeping tabs on the effectiveness of my recent search engine optimization efforts, I came across a result revealing an interesting feature from a website based in Germany. Artfacts is a curated listing of international artists that compiles information about exhibitions & such, and subsequently goes on to also provide artist ranking (nationally & internationally) based on several criteria. It's my understanding they implement artificial intelligence to gather some aspects of the information, but then they proceed to have humans verify the exhibition listings (…which, in my opinion, is an admirable way of using AI while incorporating the human touch as a key part of the process).
Well, unbeknownst to me, they've also listed and ranked me on their site! Sure, rankings come and go, and I don't usually place much stock in such numerical comparisons, especially at this fledgling stage of my fine art career. Still, I appreciate the listing!
For some reason this Artfacts profile doesn't show up in Google search results, so you'd have to use an alternate engine such as DuckDuckGo or Bing to find it. It's been just a little busy lately, so I only had a chance to prepare a single work. ART JOURNAL FEATURE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

Apparently, Visual Art Journal has a much quicker refresh & update cycle than I do on my own website, as they've already published a newer issue! However, if you're still interested in having printed pages of two of my "LES ANNÉES" fashion history artworks (as shown above), you'll have to order the entire 50th issue, which also features interesting works by several other illustrators, painters, and artists.
Keep in mind that I don't benefit from these purchases. It's simply a way for my audience to obtain reduced-sized hard copies of a few of my illustrations at a very affordable price. And also, I don't work for the art journal site nor do I write the code for it, so always ensure any page where you input personal or financial information employs "https" in the browser's address bar and verify the site has a valid security certificate. It's that time of year again, with the Rochester Contemporary Art Center's 6x6 fundraiser already upon us! For full specifications of this "MINI MODELING SESSIONS" series, you can view its listing on my Fine Art Small Works section.
Some of you may already know the drill from last year's event, but if not here's a quick breakdown of the process: The base price for each work is $20 (which doesn't include a frame if you purchase one or shipping for online buyers). While the works can already be previewed on ROCO's page (my works are listed as #2800, #2801, and #2802), buyers can get first dibs at the art during the Virtual Art Sale on June 2nd (for an additional fee), with General Online Purchasing kicking off on June 4th. Or if you prefer to view the pieces in person before making a purchase, in-gallery viewing is available on May 30, 31, & June 1. Also, in-person buying runs at the gallery from June 6-20th. Apparently, my "RIOS" artworks were scooped up by a buyer(s) during the recent RoCo 6x6. Thank you for supporting the arts!
Remember, since these works were made with water-based inks, they will bleed and smudge if re-introduced to water, so be sure to keep them away from liquids. Also, it's not a good idea to place watercolor artwork under glass, as "sweating" may occur over time when the paper is pressed right up against the glass. The exception to that rule is to incorporate spacers within your frame or an appropriate mat over the paper, which will enable the art to breathe, so to speak. (…talk to a neighborhood-friendly art framer for more details!)

While some of you may have visited the gallery in person to view all the works available, this is just a reminder that the Rochester Contemporary Art Center's RoCo 6x6 Virtual Art Sale kicks off tomorrow, June 1st, with a number of other purchasing options also available in the coming days. And if you're interested in buying any of my "RIOS" watercolors (see the specs for these here in my Fine Art Painting section) from the gallery, the last time I checked, they were listed on the Art Center's page containing artworks #2827 through #2844. Assuming the gallery assigns numbers in left to right order by row, my works should be artworks #2835, #2836, and #2837. (…and the key word there is "assuming"! Most of us realize that fine art purchases can be expensive, and sometimes prohibitively so. In view of that, and also as a consideration in these times of persistent inflation, I'm offering the general public a chance to own a few select pieces of art work of mine at a very reasonable price.
Three of my small-sized works (each 6" square) will be available for sale at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center's RoCo 6x6 gallery and are currently viewable on their online preview page. More detailed specifications for these three works can now be found on this page in my Fine Art Painting section, but here's a quick peek at my "RIOS" watercolor series:
The base price for each painting begins at $20. However, that would increase depending on whether or not you choose to purchase a frame or if you pay to participate in the Virtual Sale / Early Auction on June 1st. Also, if you're unable to attend the gallery opening (…which is okay - I won't be attending, either), RoCo6x6 will also charge a nominal fee for shipping your purchase.
