Omar Marcos - Change Log

CHANGE LOG

Since this is basically intended to be a portfolio website that, upon completion, likely won't be updated daily, I've decided against implementing an RSS feed for the artistic sections of my site (…with the exception of the News page). Instead, I've chosen to include a change log where you can keep track of any major changes I make. Yes, I realize these are typically reserved for app & software development, but it's the first title that came to mind. And ideally I should have initiated this in the Summer of 2022 when I began this version of my website, but better late than never!

  • FINE ART SECTION UPDATES

    December 6, 2025
Since the Fine Art section was left so unacceptably incomplete in the last update, I went ahead and polished it to a more finalized version. The backlinks now point to the correct previous genre & movement pages, and the thumbnail text there no longer causes positional ripples like before. Also, I've included summaries and brief art history interludes in each of those sections to provide some background info for those interested. (When I wasn't sure of a few historical dates or origins for specific terms of a movement, I looked it up, and I've included corresponding footnotes for those sources.) And now at some point in time, I really need to add more art to those sections…

  • JUST THE MINIMAL

    November 14, 2025
Hey again. It's been a bit busy lately, so the current updates are fairly minimal:

1 )  I finally corrected the choppy animation on the home page, although I'm noticing that in some browsers & operating systems it runs more smoothly than in others. Not to worry − it's only a temp splash intro anyway.

2 )  I again improved a portion of the Fine Art page, letting you view art by genre & movement. If you browse across all the internal changes, you'll notice that due to time constraints, it's still an incomplete transition. And I didn't have a chance to include the descriptions I wanted to. (…such as on the page highlighting Metamodernism, an art movement developed in response to the characteristic depthlessness of postmodern art. In contrast, Metamodernist art is often marked by meaning and, at times, even allusion to spiritual themes. Of course, the art in that category is done in my style, not necessarily what's typical to the movement.) However, at some point I'll find time to finish that section more appropriately.

3 )  And I did take a detour this time around, working on writing up a piece in response to a tidbit I heard about in current events. You can read my (as of yet also unfinished!) writing sample here: Defense of Christianity

  • HOLA AGAIN

    October 10, 2025
It's been a while since I've posted updates, but you can't hold it against a guy for living it up during this half of Hispanic Heritage month. Or was that half of last month? I'm still not sure how that works…

1 )  I've revamped the Fine Art page considerably, allowing you to now find artwork descriptions by medium or by theme. You'll probably notice the categories don't necessarily follow the strictest definitions. (The Abstract section can sometimes include slightly representational art. Sculpture will likely at some point also feature variations such as Assemblage, etc. Concepts is more of my catch-all theme for whatever didn't quite fit in other categories, not necessarily related to the branch of Conceptual art made popular in the previous century…) However, at least for the moment, I think this redesign can make the process of pinpointing a specific piece more user friendly, especially as the collection grows.

2 )  In keeping with the above update, I've also tweaked the breadcrumb (or back) links near the top of each artwork page. In addition to clicking on the Fine Art link or the name of the medium (Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Sculpture) to return to those respective sections, you can now also click on the name of the theme to bring you back to those thumbnail pages. I realize that back link area is starting to get a little crowded for mobile browser users, but I'll try to find a way to remedy that without reverting to something like 2px type!

  • IN PROGRESS

    September 12, 2025
While I'm working on other still unfinished sections, I've introduced just a few minor changes:

1 )  I've added two new artworks to the Character Design Illustration section.
2 )  It didn't make much sense to only have page number links on the bottom of each long scrollable page of the Culinary Arts sections, so I went ahead and placed those page links on the top as well. (Big change, right?)
3 )  There's one new artwork on the Fashionista stylized portrait page.
4 )  As I finally begin to complete the Illustration section of my portfolio, I'm also updating a few of the thumbnail images on the main link page. Which I'll more than likely change up again by the time the next update rolls around… So until then!

  • A FEW MORE THINGS

    August 15, 2025
1 )  I've added a new post on the Spanish page of the Languages section, as well as introduced a new German page.

2 )  The Realism Illustration portfolio has a new image entry.

3 )  I started to introduce some animation to the home page (desktop version), but didn't quite get a chance to complete it. For now, you'll have to view the sluggish text movement until I can get around to finalizing that. : )

4 )  And yes, I'm starting to test a few fixes for the web page zoom issue, but they won't be implemented site-wide until I'm sure it's resolved. Thanks for your patience!

On another note, due to the ongoing & uncertain nature of global tariffs, my Cat Spa will no longer be accepting international cats, in order to avoid unexpected import fees. I realize this may come as an inconvenience to our feline friends abroad, but such is the changing nature of business. And please don't try to game the system. We have technology that can detect foreign "meow" accents up to 99.9% accuracy, so attempting to mask your country of origin is not advised. Hopefully things will settle down in the future regarding tariffs and we can welcome you with open arms once more! Keep your paws crossed for a brighter tomorrow!

  • HELLO AGAIN

    July 30, 2025
I've been forever waiting in line for my Nintendo Switch 29, but for some reason my order never came through. Go figure. So I decided to get back to site updates:

1 )  There's (the beginnings of) a new fashion season - Spring Summer 2017 - in the Fashion Illustration section.
2 )  I've finally initialized the Realism and Stylized Concepts portfolio sections in the Illustration page.
3 )  There are new stylized portrait illustrations on the Fashionista, Cheerleader, Stewardess, and Waitress pages.
4 )  I've added a few new Remixed recipe photos in the Culinary Arts page.
5 )  As I hinted I would in the last update, I've redesigned the Mixed Media page to avoid endless scrolling of one page with multiple artworks. Now the Mixed Media page is one composite thumbnail page where you can click on the piece you'd like more info about and each subsequent artwork has its own dedicated page. And I've done the same with the Fine Art Painting page, which by the way has a new artwork listing. (Actually, I redesigned these pages a number of times since the last update - I just didn't post any of those changes online. I guess in that sense, progress isn't always visible…)
6 )  The sales status of the Mini Modeling Sessions has been updated.
7 )  As you know, I don't design first for mobile devices as many tech experts recommend. Most of my work is better viewed on larger screens (…but unfortunately with the unethical scraping of intellectual property by artificial intelligence companies, I've been reducing the size of my online images in response.) As a result, it wasn't until recently that I realized that some mobile devices perform an automatic zoom on certain pages, and when I tested my site using a mobile emulator (I'm trying to sound smart here!), I realized this effect occurred almost across the board on various types of cell phone web browsers. In some cases, a few of my pages such as my S.T.E.A.M. section render with the dreaded double-scrolling phenomenon, making it almost unreadable on mobile. So sorry about that.
I've been designing my sites to be responsive for years, but unfortunately various browsers have thrown this wrench into the mix - yet I'm committed to making my pages readable to the largest audience possible. I won't disable zoom (which would be an easy fix) out of respect for visually-impaired viewers, and even though I tried toying with simple font size changes, the problems still persisted in initial testing. But I'll find the way to correct this. For now I've simply re-engineered the section headers, which looked terribly grainy with that web browser automatic zoom (bug. flaw. feature. whatever you want to call it…). Thanks for your patience and understanding!

  • A FEW BRIEF UPDATES

    May 16, 2025
Just wanted to drop a quick note about the latest news and changes:

1 )  I added another image to the Fashion Illustration Fall Winter 2019 portfolio, and also corrected an emoji icon glitch in the portrait illustrations section.

2 )  There are a few new additions to the Mixed Media page, so be sure to check them out! (Since I rushed to piece together that page, in hindsight I'm realizing it needs to be designed differently in order to prevent endless scrolling as more works of art are added. Stay tuned for that update…)

3 )  Again, miniature artworks are available for sale at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center's 6x6 fundraising event. You can find more details in the News section. Hope you enjoy it!

  • HELLO AGAIN

    May 3, 2025
Encountered a few detours along the way, so unfortunately this update isn't quite the big reveal I wanted it to be. But such is life.
Anyways, here's the breakdown of the current changes:

1 )  I've finally started to incorporate images in the Fashion Illustration page, but as you can see, only one gallery is active for the moment.

2 )  I've refreshed the look for the Fine Arts pages, added a new Mixed Media category, and also inserted a new entry in the Art Photography page.

3 )  The Stewardess and Waitress pages also saw the addition of new artwork, along with some of the corresponding comments as they were seen on my social media pages.

4 )  I know I said in my last S.T.E.A.M. post I'd explain how a photo-loving pug relates to the concept of a total eclipse, but you'll have to forgive my trepidation in trying to draw animals. I've been known to make cats look like pit bulls and vice versa, so I'd really like to get more practice in before posting that sketch, LOL! In the meantime, I've updated the Total Solar Eclipse post with correct variables, added an outline of a new post, and added headers to the S.T.E.A.M. pages.

  • MULTIPLE UPDATES

    February 7, 2025
Instead of churning out a few micro-updates with greater frequency, I tried something different this time by completing several more substantial updates at once. It may or may not be my standard from here on out, but at this point, it worked much better with my schedule. (…Starting up a Cat-Spa takes a lot of work, you know.)

1 )  Except for the S.T.E.A.M., Artist Resources, & Graphic Design sections, all the pages now have their corresponding page headers in place. And I mentioned some time ago how I wasn't too pleased with my backlink hover designation. So I went ahead and came up with a niftier, more aesthetically pleasing solution, as you can see above.

2 )  The stylized Portrait sections are starting to come together, although there's still a ton of work to be done before completion!

3 )  I don't have much time nowadays to experiment in coding, but I've started to tinker with a new layout for the most recent Culinary Arts page.

4 )  As opposed to having all the videos jumbled together on one Video splash page, I designed separate sections according to theme, as you can see in the menu thumbnails in the preview image above.
