Omar Marcos - S.T.E.M. and Art, Introduction

No, this isn't a page dedicated to my steamed clam recipes (…that's coming later 🤣🤣). In recent years, there has been a concerted effort for youth to rediscover the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics, and with verified drops in student math testing scores, such encouragement is more important than ever.
But it's my opinion that the Arts should play an integral role in S.T.E.M. education (hence the "A" in the page title above). Not only will this result in a beautiful merging of function and form when students move on to develop their own projects, but it can also make these fields more palatable to those hesitant to engage with them. If you simply throw a formula in front of someone, most people (but not all!) will quickly tune out. But if you present some of the everyday, practical applications of the concept in a creative manner, there's a better chance of capturing your audience's attention and a greater likelihood they'll grasp & retain the ideas involved.
My intent here is to pique the interest of those teetering on the edge of curiosity regarding S.T.E.M. principles. I'm not one of those individuals who believes that math is racist & shouldn't be studied. (…whoever pushes that flawed idea is setting you up for a certain degree of failure in life, since math is basically everywhere.) Math isn't a human invention. God designed our universe with those principles baked-in and we've hardly even scratched the surface of all that can be discovered.
So in this new section sometimes I'll juxtapose math & science principles with artwork. Other times, I'll expand on some of the math found within creative fields themselves. And in certain cases, I'll just ask a few creative questions or propose some futuristic (or outlandish) concepts. And you'll have to pardon me if I'm a bit rusty ( Fe₂O₃ ) on some of the corresponding calculations & formulas. But I suppose we can learn together in this upcoming journey that blends the technical and the artistic.
