FIELD STRATEGIES 2
January 29, 2025
This post is something I've been wanting to complete for some time now, but unfortunately it seems I can never get around to it. Some points will include helpful tips for law enforcement, military, etc. and some will offer much needed recommendations for change in light of some very concerning trends in those fields. For now, I've just included a very basic outline form for a few of my thoughts…
ASSIGN A SPOTTER WHEN FLYING NIGHT MISSIONS IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS - Night vision goggles have been around since nearly the time of World War II, and I'm concerned that appropriate safety steps haven't been taken in some cases, in light of the fact that the former severely reduce a person's field of vision. When conducting night missions in high traffic civilian areas, have a spotter accompany the crew, a person who isn't wearing night vision goggles and can view things without the distractions of such assistive eyewear.
PASSENGER SIDE TRAFFIC STOPS- Force Science ran some tests on which location provides the safest spot for a police officer to conduct a traffic stop, and their research shows approaching a vehicle from the passenger side gives at least an extra second of time to respond in case things go south. Obviously a passenger side approach isn't always viable, and one extra second doesn't seem like much, but in life and death situations, every moment counts. For a complete breakdown of their findings, it's best to check their full research paper.
