Omar Marcos - Graphic Design: Student Work3

STUDENT WORK

One of my graphic design professors loved zen simplicity and perhaps some of that unknowingly rubbed off on my design style. For example, one visual tool I chose to implement on this editorial project was a subtle parallelism between the ascending years & the length of the image captions on one of the spreads.
Now, a few of the photos we were given were badly underexposed, but being a typography and editorial class, our focus was the layout & design. However, I recently performed some light retouching and exposure correction on those images for this portfolio presentation, just enough to make the structures more discernible while still retaining their vintage appearance. I realize in certain art circles, people advise you to focus on a specific niche, and that can be useful, especially when it comes to social media. But there's something to be said for having a more diverse skill set. You never know when circumstances may require them of you.
