LANDSCAPES − Nature has often inspired feelings of awe, respect, or even fear, and artists throughout history have often expressed their wonder or their apprehension of the elements in visual depictions. Asian art frequently depicted "Nature" as overwhelming "Man", whether through the use of scale or through composition. Peruvian artists display incredible skill at conveying the beauty and color of their rugged terrain through the intricate medium of hand-weaving. Romanticism in America and abroad evoked feelings of calm and tranquility with its majestic landscapes. There is value in re-connecting with nature, and for the times we can't physically be present in idyllic settings, perhaps a tangible visual representation of the beauty in our world will suffice. (For my purposes, this section will include not only landscapes, but also general works of varying styles depicting nature & floral details.)
