A subtle commentary on artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of art: Will machine-made visuals ever become dominant over human-made drawings? Can artificial output hope to match the level of heart & soul found in human art or will it always remain soulless & sterile in comparison? (…And yes, this piece is intentionally meant to allude to M.C. Escher's well-known self-reflexive works, albeit with a different theme.)
The slightly larger robotic-like hand on the right is characterized by a colorless and a mostly flat treatment (with the exception of some basic perspective). It wasn't drawn using a straight-edge or any elliptical guides, so the corresponding imperfections are noticeable upon closer inspection. In the same way, despite all the slick marketing that accompanies AI, it's still rife with "hallucinations", disinformation, and faulty output. Since many in the artificial intelligence tech community seem intent on erasing the human aspect of creativity, the human hand & arm in this piece were drawn using pencil, and the base of the forearm is already slowly fading away in the face of the more dominant artificial intelligence hand. However, you'll notice that all the color and all the life in the image emanate from the human hand, and not the artificial one. Indeed, nearly all that artificial intelligence systems have learned & acquired is built on the foundation of the literary, artistic, technical, and inspirational work of humans.
