When looking for objects to use for this photogram, I came across a pair of fragrance bottles and found it incredibly interesting how the product designers fashioned the corresponding perfume & cologne bottles in a way that was almost indicative of male and female physical attributes. If you've ever read tips on drawing stylized human characters, you'll likely come across recommendations that blocky, geometric shapes should be used for illustrating men, and refined curves should be implemented for depictions of women.
And I thought it was pretty brilliant for the designers to reflect this. The "For Men" bottle on the right is rectangular, highly angular, solid, & stout. The women's perfume on the left, however, is defined by smooth curves, characteristic of the grace & elegance of a woman's figure. So is this simply a well-used marketing maneuver? Or is this awareness of male and female characteristics ingrained deep inside of us?
