French is the only language I've formally studied, but unfortunately I've let it fall by the wayside. My pronunciation needs work, I've been known to confuse accents, & my conversation with a native speaker might go something like the one above!
When you begin learning a language, you'll engage in considerable basic word & phrase repetition. But with practice & study, you'll eventually begin to construct your own thoughts & ideas. So it's okay being a foreign language parrot when you start out!
