What happens when an individual ceases to fulfill appointed destiny? Or when a nation fails to do so? (But then again, not knowing your destiny would perhaps be an even more conflicted condition…) Would it be a simple thing for someone to come along, pick it up, and carefully rekindle it anew? Or does the falling from grace only reflect one last glimpse of beauty before the shadows take over?
